Who We Are
Wright Contracting was launched in the spring of 1986. The first job site was a 4 x 6-foot sandbox and the initial equipment inventory consisted of a small John Deere tractor and a toy dump truck. Propelled by the same fertile imagination of a two year old boy things have grown since then. As a native of Cleveland County in Western North Carolina, Joseph “Joe” Wright, principal of present day Wright Contracting, deepened his appreciation of nature in the streams, fields and woodlands of his family’s farm. With work experience in landscaping and leadership skills acquired on his road to Eagle Scout, Joe went on to earn a BS degree in Biological & Agricultural Engineering with a minor in Business Management from North Carolina State University in 2008. During that educational process, Joe was fortunate to forge lasting relationships with industry leaders, educators and innovators in the field of stream remediation and stormwater management.Wright Contracting is well known for their construction services with regard to stream and wetland restoration/enhancement, stormwater management, and grading and site work. We have completed numerous projects across the Carolinas and south as far as Texas. Wright is currently teamed with another contractor on the Katy Prairie Mitigation Bank, one of the largest stream restoration projects in the country. The project covers more than 110,000 linear feet of stream channel across Warren Ranch, the largest operating cattle ranch in Harris County, west of Houston. Officials involved in the project say it will serve as a template for Houston’s future growth, ensuring that development in one part of the watershed will be met first with protection and ecological mitigation.
